From Sept. to Nov. 2018, a cohort of eight students with their instructor created a Mindfulness Garden to support Winchester Grade 1-2 students. Using the Social Determinants of Health lens as spelled out in the Ottawa Charter for Health Promotion, the activities gave students opportunities to talk about their feelings and learn ways to reduce anxiety, deal with anger and sadness. “Green” is where you want to go, that’s when you’re calm, relaxed, happy and ready to learn! Fitting that Green Thumbs is making it happen!
